The focus of the highly regarded Iron Girl Series is to create quality events that provide women with a competitive platform; one that showcases seasoned athletes and novices alike. From its modest beginnings in 2004 with just two events, the Iron Girl Series has grown to include ten events nationwide, attracting women of all ages and athletic abilities who run for many different reasons.
Nearly 25,000 women have crossed an Iron Girl finish line since the start of the series. You can be one too! Iron Girl’s mission is to empower women to feel the exhilaration, pride, and sense of personal accomplishment that result from meeting fitness challenges head on. Whether you are an accomplished runner or a novice, whether you run a 5K or participate in a triathlon, the Aflac Iron Girl Series welcomes you and invites you to cross that triumphant finish line.

The Aflac Iron Girl event experience provides women with a competitive platform and amenities such as a post-race Breakfast Café, performance shirts sized just for women, professional timing, personalized race bibs, custom finisher medals, Tri Clique jewelry age group awards, post race giveaways, and reusable athlete goodie bags, part of Iron Girl’s “green” initiative. Race with a Cause
The Aflac Iron Girl Series would like to thank all of those who made the fundraising efforts of the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults such a success in 2007 and 2008. The series is currently gearing up for 2009 with a new charity program for children that is soon to be announced. Make your race experience extra special by running to help kids in need.
April 4- Clearwater, Florida -The 2009 Aflac Iron Girl Event Series is off to a great start on Saturday, April 4 in Clearwater, Florida. Come join the sixth anniversary celebration of this 10K and 5K run/walk event.
May 9- Las Vegas, Nevada - The Las Vegas Women’s Triathlon and Sprint features an Olympic distance triathlon (1.5K swim, 40K bike, and 10K run). The Sprint consists of .5 mile swim, 10 mile bike and 3.1 mile run. Located on the edge of Lake Las Vegas, just a few miles from the famous Las Vegas strip, this is the ultimate Iron Girl weekend filled with fitness, camaraderie , first class hotels, restaurants, shopping and spa amenities.
June 7- Del Mar, California - You won’t want to miss the third annual Aflac Iron Girl 10K and 5K at the Del Mar fairgrounds. The spectacular Pacific Coast Highway and beautiful Del Mar just north of San Diego is the perfect backdrop for this exciting event.
June 28- Lake Lanier Islands, Georgia- Set in the scenic grounds of the Lake Lanier Island Resort Beach outside of Atlanta, Georgia, the third annual Iron Girl Lake Lanier Event features a women’s triathlon that includes a 1/3 mile swim, 18 mile bike, and 3 mile run.
July 26- Syracuse, New York- Catch the excitement with the first annual Aflac Iron Girl Syracuse Women’s Triathlon. Embracing seasoned athletes and novices alike, this event features a sprint triathlon (800 meter swim, 30K bike, and 5K run). Syracuse has been called the Crossroads of New York State because it is centrally located and easily accessible from many other northeast locations. You will delight in the region’s scenic beauty, rolling hills, flat plains, lakes and streams.
August 8- Denver, Colorado- Voted the best 5K event in Colorado by the readers of Colorado Runner magazine in 2007, Aflac Iron Girl is proud to bring this race to Denver for the fourth year with a terrific new course in City Park, which provides a runner-friendly course with no steep hills, plenty of shade and scenic neighborhoods.
August 23- Columbia, Maryland- Registration for the popular Aflac Iron Girl Triathlon, 0.62 mile swim, 17.5 mile bike, and 3.4 mile run, is closed. Be sure to visit the website at www.irongirl.com for other options.
September 13- Seattle, Washington- The Aflac Iron Girl Series is pleased to bring this fun filled event back to Seattle for the fourth year. Seattle’s famed Green Lake Park is the ideal location for this 10K/5K run and 5K walk event.
September 27 – Bloomington, Minnesota- The Aflac Iron Girl Bloomington Duathlon is in its fifth year and is the largest duathlon in the country. It starts with a two mile run in beautiful Normandale Lake Park, a great 22 mile bike course out of the city, followed by another two-mile run. What a terrific challenge!
November 15- Tempe, Arizona- The 2009 Aflac Iron Girl Event series culminates in an amazing southwestern location, one of the original Iron Girl venues, which features the longest run of the series (10miles), as well as a 5K run/walk. Whether this is your first event or 500th, Aflac Iron Girl welcomes you to Tempe.
