The focus of the highly regarded Iron Girl Series is to create quality events that provide women with a competitive platform; one that showcases seasoned athletes and novices alike. What a great way to take charge of your health and fitness. From its modest beginnings in 2004 with just two events, the Iron Girl Series has grown to include ten events nationwide, attracting women of all ages and athletic abilities who run for many different reasons.

Nearly 25,000 women have crossed an Iron Girl finish line since the start of the series. You can be one too! Iron Girl’s mission is to empower women to feel the exhilaration, pride, and sense of personal accomplishment that result from meeting fitness challenges head on. Whether you are an accomplished runner or a novice, whether you run a 5K or participate in a triathlon, the Aflac Iron Girl Series welcomes you and invites you to cross that triumphant finish line.

Iron Girl recognizes the inner grace that is within all women. It is fitting that Grace is a symbol for the Iron Girl logo. It is what makes women special, unique, strong and limitless. Each of the Aflac Iron Girl events is a testament to the power of women and a celebration of woman’s health and fitness. With numerous fantastic locations, different types of events and dates to choose from, and the camaraderie of all-women races, there is no better way, no better time, to strengthen your commitment to healthy living. Participating in an Aflac Iron Girl event could change your life.

The Aflac Iron Girl events are unsurpassed when it comes to race organization and amenities. It is no wonder that these events are favorites of women runners across the country. Past participants always rave that Iron Girl races are well organized, enjoyable, and runner-friendly. Women enjoy that special camaraderie that is unique to Iron Girl events. Iron Girl lives up to its reputation for making every runner feel special, celebrating every woman’s strengths. Even when memories of other races are long gone, runners find themselves basking in the afterglow of Iron Girl accomplishments, and looking forward to participating again. That is the power of Iron Girl!

The Aflac Iron Girl event experience provides women with a competitive platform and amenities such as a post-race Breakfast Café, performance shirts sized just for women, professional timing, personalized race bibs, custom finisher medals, Tri Clique jewelry age group awards, post race giveaways, and reusable athlete goodie bags, part of Iron Girl’s “green” initiative. All participants in the 2009 series will also receive a commemorative Aflac Iron Girl plush duck!

Because the Iron Girl mission is an important one, they have created a community centered on fitness and performance through their interactive website to help you achieve your goals. The Iron Girl E-community consists of an events calendar, support network, cheering section, personal testimonials, and training resources, including a tool/link that allows you calculate body mass index and heart rate, as well as a pace calculator and a caloric needs calculator. You can also sign up for the E-newsletter which includes information and tips to help you prepare and continue to lead a healthy and active lifestyle.
