Friday Night Runners Gear Up For Christmas

It was kind of a low-key night at the Friday Night Five. It seemed many people were preoccupied with rushing off to various Christmas parties, while others were still recovering from previous Christmas parties. Still 28 runners raced off into yet another night of perfect running weather. For the first time in many weeks, the runners benefited from the illumination of a bright moon to help guide their way. But according to FTC President and weather guru, Bob Crowley, next Friday will be one of the brightest Friday nights of the year, should the clouds cooperate. He went into the specifics, which no one seemed to understand.

The men's top 5 was almost a carbon copy of last weeks finish, except this week Jeff List joined the group and finished 3rd. Stace Beaulieu was the first woman across the line, as she edged Jessica baker by 2 minutes. Courtney Harris was third. Marcy Pouliot (formerly Marci Svoboda) showed signs that she is recovering from her wedding/honeymoon running layoff, as she cracked the top 5 for the first time since last winter.

The Friday night 5 mile runs are held every Friday night at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth. Runners are reminded that reflector vests or some other type of illuminating garb is required by order of FTC night running regulations.

The next FTC Friday Night Five will be held on Christmas eve. Anyone with the day off is welcome to run during the day and come back at night to record their time.
