GCS Fall Trail Series - Part 1

GCS Fall Trail Race Series - Race #1

Race Story:

The weather started out cool and crisp but warmed nicely as 38 runners took to the

leaf-strewn trails of Mine Falls Park for Part One of our Fall Trail Series Races.

The trails were also filled with GCS Youth volunteers who helped guide our runners for

what was a great day of Autumn racing and helpd our youth get one step closer to raising

enough money for their trip to the Cross Country Championships in Alamaba in December.

The 5k winner for the men was newcomer Joe Morasse who finished in 17:42 and 2 minutes

ahead of second place finisher Curt Fischer. The female 5k winner was Susan Peters who

ran 24:50 and finished just 18 seconds ahead of Kirsten Hewitt.  The 5-mile winner was

Allen Hall who ran a 33:21 and beat Steve Kenney by almost 4 minutes. And, on the womens

5m side Lisa Lombardi finished in 40:21 to take first place over Kathie Roy by 2 1/2 minutes.
