Broken Boulder Dash 6K

The first annual Broken Boulder Dash 6K was held under perfect Fall conditions,
despite what the calendar said. Sunny skies, cool temperatures, and a strong
breeze kept runners from overheating during the difficult climb to start the
race, before they plunger down to the entrance to Broken Boulder Trail.
Dean Kimball took advabtage of his home course (he lives on the dirt road that
encompasses the first 1/2 mile of the course) andpulled away with a narrow win
over Paul Young 22:07 to 22:15. Robert Molvar returned to the local racing
scene from Hungary to take 3rd.
Anna Maglehad an easier time of the win, by running a swift 28:11, more than
5 minutes ahead of runner up Traci Moorcroft. Lisa Bozek took 3rd.
The small crowd even included one runner who said hewas 'on break' from his
Reach The Beach Relay team --- the RTB ran right by the entrance to Bear
State Park - host site of the race.
Look for the 2nd annual Broken Boulder Dash 2 weeks earlier on the schedule
as the race organizers are planning for a pre-Labor Day race next year.
