PRs were set by all (except one), as runners tackled a new race distance - 4K -
through the beautiful trails of Mine Falls Park in Nashua.For many, this was a
preview of the race course for next week's Moose On The Loose 10 Mile Trail Race
& Relay. For others it was an opportunity to challenge themselves at a new dis-
tance that requires a little more speed than the usual 5K.
Runners from afar came out on top as Eric Mrshall of Rumney and Erica Labella of
Sugar Hill took the titles, setting course records in the process. Eric ran 15:15
for a 10 second win over Alfonso Navarro Jr. and a 13 second edge on Jeffrey Hart
of Merrimack.
Labella pulled in 4th overall, 23 sconds ahead of Adela Chovancova. Ohio's
Kristin Cymbak took 3rd.
Team Ng dominated the race however, with 1 out of every 6 runners putting in a
winniNG performance.
3CRP will return to this beautiful 4K course on October 3 at 5:30 PM for the
Twilite Hoot Owl 4K Run. With sunset coming at 6:13 that night, runners will
be trying to make it back out of the park before darkness closes in on the trails.
Are these 4K's leading up to anything? Sure are. Plans are in the works for a
certified 4K race next 4th of July --- the first certified 4K on record in New
Hampshire, so the first runner of each age will set new state records.
Seeya on the roads, and the trails, and soo: on the snow covered paths in Beaver
Brook, Horse Hill Nature Preserve, and Feel Good Farm.
