Mine Falls Summer Trail Race Series - Race #2

Race Story:

This weeks Trail Races were about adapting to change. Change caused both by nature and by man.
The torrential rain leading up to the races provided some very muddy conditions and even a few
impromptu river crossings, washout leaps and puddle jumps. However, the biggest obstacle of all
(at least for the race director) was the abrupt closing of one of the main bridges on the course.
After much scrambling to redesign the courses (1 hour prior to the start) the runners were off
on newly the marked 3m and 5m routes. Mike Peabody came through first in 17:34 for the 3m
and Alex Brown did the same for the 5m in 29:07. Janice Platt won the 3m for the women in 21:18
while Peggy Lai took first for the women in the 5m finishing in 38:36.

Thanks to all who came to run or volunteer. I appreciate your patience with the last minute changes.
Hopefully we'll have it sorted out next week. I look forward to seeing you all (and more) then!
