CMS Boylston XC Series - Race #1

Earlier this year, Stu Thurston and Richard Hunt had the idea of holding a summer 5k
cross country series in Boylston on the same course as the Deer Run. And from that
thought, another race was born! Tonight was the inaugural run and 32 runners came
out to show their support!
Sean Duncan led all runners through the twists, around the turns, down the downhills
(the direction you should you run them), and up the uphills. Over the rocks, amongst
the the ruts, and along the shore. Except for the opening stretch, that is, as Brian
Quitadamo opened to a strong starting pace but then decided to drop it back a notch.
Anyway, back to Sean, our race winner. Coming through the finish line, we were all
surprised at how quick he was until we found out he runs in the 15's on the track.
Whew! No wrong turn there! Brian would hold on for second and Karen McGahie, running
on her home town course, would be lead woman on the night.
We'd also like to extend a hearty welcome to one of our newest club members, Erica Perrot,
who ran her first race tonight! Now there's a runner if I ever saw one deciding to start
out with a trail race!
Next week, same bat-time, same bat-course for week #2. We have 32 runners that have made
themselves eligible for the free t-shirt as you need to run all three weeks to get one.
Let's see if we can give out all 32! Even if you missed the first week, there'll be raffle
prizes, Polar Beverages, and miscellaneous random assorted mixed munchies.
