Oh, What a Night!

For the first time a super hero won a Good Times series race as Spiderman and Superman dueled for the top spot. However when it was all over, it was Wonder Woman who stole the show.

Tonight's race featured a competition of 2-person teams. Teams were age and gender graded to make things a bit interesting. A total of 51 teams competed.
You
don't tug on Superman's cape
The team of Anthony Merra and Jeff Warren added a lot of fun and
excitement to this evening's event as they arrived at the starting line dressed
in full Spiderman and Superman costumes. Typically when you see someone at a
race dressed in a costume you can usually assume they are a back of the packer.
This was not the case tonight.
Our two superheroes were making a YouTube video and they made the best of it as Merra (Spiderman), a Columbia University freshman, ran a terrific 15:59 to win the race. His team mate, 18 year old Jeff Warren (Superman) of Hudson, NH, was not far behind as he flew through the course in 17:17 and finished fourth overall. I can only imagine what was going through the mind of second place finisher Titus Mutinda as he battled these two superheroes.
Record
Breaking Night
With
all due respect to the performances of Mr. Merra and Mr. Warren the real superhero
tonight was Chelmsford's Kara Haas. The fleet footed MVS runner smashed her
existing five year old women's record of 18:11 by a whopping 33-seconds.
For her excellence she was awarded a cash prize and she immediately used the cash to buy adult beverages for her friends and family - you gotta love it! Not to be over looked, there was another record set tonight as Lowell's Titus Mutinda lowered his master's record from 16:19 to 16:03.
In the team competition it was the Team Molloy (Richard Molloy and Kara Haas) who edged out the Super Spiders (Anthony Merra and Jeff Warren) to take top honors.
On the individual side, there was no change in the overall leader board as Christie Fox and EJ Hrynowski held onto their leads. We had a total of 157 competitors and 60 scored Mylies by running a course PR.
Surfs Up!
Next
week the Good Times Series is on summer vacation. We return on August 5 with
our first annual Bikini Run. All women and men who run in a bathing suit win
a towel. BTW guys, running shorts do not pass as a bathing suit. They'll also
be some really cool beach related prizes to our winners. So come spend a beach
night at Hookslide Kelly's and, as always, we can't promise you'll run a
fast time, but we guarantee you'll have a Good Time at the Good Times Series.
