Race #3 of the Spring Good Times 5K Series
Thar's Gold in Those Mylies
![]() |
Last year over the span of twenty Good Time races we awarded almost six-hundred Mylie awards for running a Good Times course PR. During the past two weeks we have awarded 188! If this pace continues, we'll end up awarding close to one-thousand Mylies this year. I hope we can come close to awarding that many and I hope Dave LaBrode's voice can hold up to announcing each winner.
In addition to the record number of PRs in 2008, we are also seeing a record number of finishers. In the past three weeks we have had 211 - 237 - 214 runners cross the finish at Boott Mills. It appears that runners not only want to run a fast time, as in Personal Record, but they want to have a good time, as in after race festivities.
Golden Mylie
Chase
In the
chase for the Gold Mylie we have 116 runners still in the hunt. Fifty-five
are women and sixty-one are men. Remember, to be awarded a Golden Mylie you
must finish all ten races. Each Golden Mylie will be personalized with the recipient's
name.
Scott Foley still sits on top of the men's leader board with one victory and two second place finishes. Former Good Times champion Christie Fox took over top place in the women's division with her first place finish this week. Will Christie become only the second women to win two Good Times crowns?
Please join us
next week (April 22) for our annual Elizabeth Cady Stanton 5K. This is a gender-graded
event, which means all women runners will have their time multiplied by a gender-grading
factor of 0.91. The top finishers, after gender grading, in the 19 & under,
20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+ win! And as always, we can't guarantee
you will run a fast time, but we promise you will have a good time.
