| Mine Falls Summer Trail Race Series - Race #9 | |||||||||
| Race Story: | |||||||||
| The weather for Week #9 was warm and sticky, like a melted popcicle on a summer sidewalk. | |||||||||
| 36 runners toed the line this week in search of a cooling breeze, but none was to be found. | |||||||||
| Our nights winners did breeze to victory, however. With the lone excepetion being the women's 5m. | |||||||||
| First timer Darlene Gaudet managed to squeak out a victory in that race, but not without a stiff | |||||||||
| challenge from our defending champion Cathy Merra. Darlene's 37:39 was the fastest female 5m | |||||||||
| of the year and bested Cathy's effort by 33 seconds. Our 5m men's winner was returning champion | |||||||||
| Mark Wimmer who cruised home in 31:01. Our women's 5k winner was powerhouse Felicia Lombardi. | |||||||||
| Felicia's 20:05 was one of the nights only PR's. And, our 5k men's race was won by long-time runner, | |||||||||
| but first time winner, Jeff Crane ( 19:06) who also walked off with one of the 5 raffle prizes. | |||||||||
| Thanks to all who came out to run or volunteer. I hope to see you all (and more) again next week! | |||||||||
| Immediately following next week's race we will be giving out the awards for the two series segements. | |||||||||
| Next week is also the last of the 10-week series. But, following that we will have our Handicap Race on | |||||||||
| Aug 20th & our Relay Race on Aug 27th. So, be sure to join us as we cap off the summer with a bang! | |||||||||
