Mine Falls Summer Trail Race Series - Race #10

Race Story:

Week #10 was a celebration. We celebrated our award winners & the rain stopping just before the race.
47 runners came out on the last night of our 10-race "Regular Season" and enjoyed clear, calm weather.
Jeff Crane took the 5k in 19:15 and also managed to win his age group for segment #2, as well.
Felicia Lombardi did Jeff one better. Not only did her 20.15 win the 5k womens race and give her
enough points to take her age group for segment #2, but she walked away with a raffle prize to boot!
Our 5m winner was first-timer Alex Brown who's 29.23 was enough to hold off Mark Wimmer for first.
And, our 5m women's winner Cathy Merra took home her age group award along with a nice 38:32 time.
A post-race spread of mini-muffins, bagels & cookies were enjoyed by all during the awards ceremony.

Division winners for each of the two race segements were presented with poly-carbonate sports bottles
customized with a Race Director designed Summer Trail Series logo. In addition to the bottles, a free pair
of Vasque Trail Shoes were presented to the the two individuals who accumulated the most amount of points
during the 10-week series. Bill Morse led the men with 852 total points, while Susan Rube's 693 points
were enough to put her over the top. Bill & Susan were also members of a very select group. Along with
Susan's husband Alan, these three were the only runners to complete every one of the 10 races!

Thanks to all who came out to run or volunteer. I appreciate your support during this 10-week series.
Next week we will have our Handicap Race and the following week (Aug 27th) we will have our Relay Race.
I hope you will all join us over the next two weeks as we cap off a great summer of trail racing!
