An Ců Liath Irish Pub City Run
Worcester, MA, October 1, 2007
Overall results
by Scott
No, the asterisks in the results are
not an indication of some sort of illegal performance enhancing substance use
ala Barry Bonds. They are there to signify personal bests on our
course. The cool fall air apparently got a few of our runners juiced up
enough to go out and run harder than usual. Good thing there was no
illegal doping going on as we had four of Holden's finest joining us for our
run. Can't really call it a police escort since they were not leading the
race, :) but we'll just be happy with the extra security on hand as we are
now running mostly in the dark.
For those of you who don't find the
thought of running through traffic in a rather urban part of Worcester in
the dark alluring but still want to see what all the buzz is about we have
something coming up that might be less frightening. It is the First Annual Worcester's Redneck
Deepfried Turkey 5Km or Abouts happening on Thanksgiving Day. Check
out the website and sign up now before this event sells out, and it
will!
A few of our regular runners also
have events happening that we would like to encourage you to support. Sure
Paulie's big events are like no others, but it's the small town local races that
make running what it is.
Directed by the long suffering Mrs.
Goolsky, no she isn't ill, but have you met her husband?? Trust me there is
suffering going on there ;) . The Rutland Pumpkin Paddle 5K is being held
on Sunday October 14 at 10:30 am in Rutland State Park Email Mrs Goolsky
at recreation@townofrutland.org for more info.
Dick Hunt and Stu Thurston have the
14th
Wachusett Resivoir Deer Run scheduled for November 3rd at 9:30 am.
Always a good time, and a challenging race through the woods of the Wachusett
Watershed this year features a new course. Stu and Dick are a couple of
1st class guys and I will certainly be there for this race and so should
you.
And for those of you who like to
know such things, and you'd be surprised how many do, we had loads of food
tonight. Homemade macaroni and cheese, kielbasa soup, tomatoes and
mozzarella, banana bread and of course a nice assortment of cookies. A
free run, a free meal, and reasonably priced beer, this is what you are
missing if you are not hanging out with us on Monday
nights. S.S.
