chilly June evening to run/walk and the runners and walkers - 46 in
total STILL showed up this evening
In this humble
running scribes opinion "when a race
promoter/director uses poor weather as an excuse for no one showing up, it is
time to get out of the biz, no matter how much free stuff one finds in a race
bag, especially when promoting an - ole fashion road race
- cause ole fashion runners nevah let poor
weather get in the way"
Anyway,
this RD obsessed tonight over whether to start BBQing the meat early or
wait - we had pork tonight..the skunk got skewered two weeks
back:>) I decided to start early so that I could watch the TWO winningest women in Somerville
Road Racing History duke it out..Marie Kemp & Michelle McAndrew both showed
up this evening and combined have the most ever road racing wins in
Somerville, Massachusetts and I should know since I am the official road racing
results archivist for the City since 1988 - these two chicks were racing in "The
Ville" way before it was popular and the place to be!!
So Marie Kemp of
Jackson, Mississippi aka Marie Christian now of Quincy, Massachusetts smoked
Michelle and every other dame that showed up tonight....Amy Porter of Cambridge,
Massachusetts gave Marie a run for her moooney but when MK aka MC wants to turn
on the jets she can and she does!! Tonight she did and "The Big Fella" is happy
cause MK aka MC is one of his fave runners and friends of all time!
We also gave away some adidas sneaks tonight..Bev Zaluk & Brian Poli were the
winners and not because they crossed the Finish Line first but just because they
are good doobies...fast runners are a dime a dozen....good doobies are hard
to find:>)
