Big ole city like Worcester
should be hosting "4th of July" races, St. Paddy's Day races, Thanksgiving Day
races & more pub runs..whats up folks??
Well we
didn't let the masses down last night-a "4th of July" race accurred smack dab in
the middle of the city a day early....a humid race around District 4 with a post
race time that included all the goodies most folks like after a race!! Everyone
then scadaddled off to the various fireworks displays around the Globe...I
personally didn't have to go very far as my next door neighbor has been
displaying them since last November...but I did..traveling to Rutland,
Massachusetts...home of Jack Goolsky one of the more faithful Monday night
runners....Rutland is a true American town....pre-4th Sunday night road race,
flags a wavin' on all the municipal poles and homes....folks are out on the
lawns watching the fireworks and town parade, "4th of July" mornin' pancake
breakfast signs everywhere ( I made it back today for the breakfast at the
Community Center and got the State Rep. to serve me the cakes)...smiles
everywhere and the people seem to enjoy life.
And we did have a race
last night....Scott Stevens of Holden, Massachusetts via Somerville,
Massachusetts laid a FIRST CLASS whuppin' on Joe Carpenter tonight...Scott
and Joe live in one of those border towns of Worcester where the air is clean,
the kids go to school, the curbs are litter free and the liquor stores do not
sell 40oz. Colt 45's by the minute....but they make the trek each week....two
classy gents:>)

Massachusetts....he get's a Western Massachusetts drought of Monday Night races
and he thinks of us and travels East...another classy gent and since I'm yapping
away about classy folks...thanks Tracy Flyn for the nice "4th of July" basket of
goodies..muchas gracias from the Big Fella:>)
P.S.
Word out of Dodge City is that the "10th of July" may be the biggest Paulie's
House Run...The Shrewsbury Runners Club
may be invading the Worcester scene!!!
