The summer Moose Milers 5K Race series came to a close on a perfect night for running along the tree-shaded trails along the canal in Mine Falls Park. The Merrimack High School Girls Cross Country team showed up to boost the field to 42. MHS'er Melissa Pelletier led the way for the ladies as she romped to a half minute victory over Jenna Marschhausen and Holly Banaian - the Girls 15-18 and 11-14 series champions. 14-year old David Hausherr continued his winning ways by taking his biggest victory of the season in 17:44 - almost 2 minutes ahead of second place finisher, Patrick Scott, coach of the MHS Girls. Brother-sister team of Peter and Pat Wojtas won the overall series championships, earning themselves trophes and gift certifictaes for free acupuncture treatments. Ouch!!! The Mine Falls 2.5 Mile Cross Country Series starts next Monday night with the Scrabble Scramble. Other races in the series are: Pictionary On The Run, What's My Time?, Trivia On The Trails, and The Mystery Run. The Fall 4K PR Race Series follows from October 4 - 25, and then we will be moving to Saturday mornings for the rest of 2004.
