22nd GMAA Kaynor's 6M Sap Run

Vermont's third largest seasonal snow ever was still on the ground in Westford for race day making it difficult to use the sugar house. The silver lining in all the snow is that the thaw hadn't come out of the ground yet and the roads weren't too muddy! However the lack of thick mud was mitigated by a consistent 20 mph south wind with gusts up to 35 mph. One person referred to the race conditions as "a South Hero wind but with hills".  61 runners made the entire 6 mile distance.  Donna Smyers won for the women in 43:33 and Ian Stevenson won for the men in 37:39, just 20 seconds ahead of Norm Larson.
