22nd Annual GSH Summer Sizzler Series - 8K

          Abdul-Wadud, 
            Cummings, Roberts and Blanchard take the Final 8K 
            Honors!
            
  Eighty five degree 
            weather didn't slow the 34 runners that showed up for the final 8K 
            race of this series.  In the early going it seemed like no one 
            wanted to take this one out in the heat.  However after leaving 
            the Park, things started to heat up and fifteen year-old Asif 
            Abdul-Wadud ran away to a men's victory in 30:16 while Colleen 
            Cummings took women's honors.
  The temperature did little 
            to stop Art Roberts, as he set an impressive 31:07 age  record 
            surpassing that 57 age record by some 20 seconds that was set by 
            Roland Cormier.  Equally as impressive was the record set by 75 
            years young, Doug Blanchard who competed the course in 
            40:18
