Over 600 women took off for the scenic 10K event. Happy volunteers at the first water station pose while waiting for the first runner. Jennifer Latham grabs water just ahead of the Michele LaFleur at 1.5 miles. A big pack including #605, Catherine Hull (#159), Betty Seabrooks (#164) come through Elizabeth Park, at halfway on the 10K course.
The pack got thick for awhile with #646, Janetje Peterson (#422), #643 somewhat in focus. Pat Wilkerson, from the Avon Baltimore event team, travelled to Hartford for the 2nd year. Jennifer Briggs Latham (NY) crosses the finish line in 37:36 to win her trip to the AR National Championship in Cincinnati. This woman was the first Avon Representative in the 5K.
The Hartford volunteers treat participants to fresh sliced strawberry shortcake. Classy event! 10K finishers 654, Barbara Pearce (#493), Mary Jo Crane (#452), Mary Haselkamp (#522) are happy to be rehydrating on this slightly muggy day. Anna Andersen (also with the Baltimore event committee) takes advantage of the misting tent to cool off. Daughter (#2432) and mother (#2431) and friend Carol Charles (#247) enjoy the post-race festivities.
Jennifer Latham in full stride. Janis Briggs (#339) is the proud mother of winner Jennifer Briggs Latham (middle) with 4th place Barbara Remmers. It was Janis' first 10K (although she's run the marathon) Mary Haines (84 years) returned to Hartford and finished the 10K in 1:38:36. 84 year old Mary Haines draws a standing ovation as she tells them the 10K was a "piece of cake!"
Repeat winner Barbara Maloney (49:06), Ann Rose (50:06) and Gail Glenn (54:20) take the top 3 Avon Representative honors. Jennifer Latham speaks to the audience and thanks Avon for supporting women's running and walking! (l-r) 2nd through 9th places (LaFleur, Bartnicki, Remmers, Hurley, Mantie, Giglio, Ouellette, Heimdal) during the awards ceremony. Hartford winner Jennifer Latham was beaming at the awards ceremony.

And they're off ... for the 10K start. 500 women stepped out for a beautiful 5K walk or run.
