5K participants warm-up in Atlanta

10K Runners get a good start in the Avon Running - Atlanta

Over 700 runners and walkers step out for their 5K tour of Atlanta.

Atlanta Track Club team member, Maggie Visser, broke the tape in the 10K with a winning time of 37:03

Grete Waitz, Carmen Burnes (host of Channel 11 NBC Peachtree Morning and honorary chairperson for the Atlanta event) and Maria Peninger (Avon Southeast Region VP) led a large number of women to the 5K finish.

78-year-young Rita Tommasini (age group winner) epitomizes the vitality that running can bring. On stage to receive her award with Grete Waitz, Carmen Burns, Maria Peninger and Avon Running announcer, Sharon Barbano.

Atlanta's Centennial Olympic Park was a fitting venue for Tommasini's standing ovation.

National Avon Representative Champion returned to repeat her victory in Atlanta. Judy, preparing to represent the US Representatives at the upcoming AR Global Championship in NYC, was 10th overall, 2nd Master and first Representative with a 39:50.

Maggie Visser spoke to the crowd after winning her crown, prize, flowers and a trip to the Avon Running - National Championship in Cincinnati October 31st

Flowers were given to the top 3, top master and top Avon Rep, all who ran in the top 10 overall (see results)

Repeat Atlanta - Avon Representative winner, Judy Walls with her proud and very supportive family. Judy is a mother of 5, teacher, Avon Representative (for 19 years) and an accomplished runner.
